WE OFFER OUR PATIENTS A FULL RANGE OD ROUTINE AND COSMETIC TREATMENTS
Gum Disease (periodontal disease)
Periodontal disease is an infection of the tissues and bone that support the teeth. Untreated gum disease can become very serious, causing teeth to become loose or fall out. Gum disease is usually caused by a build-up of plaque, an invisible sticky layer of germs that forms naturally on the teeth and gums. Plaque contains bacteria, which produce toxins that irritate and damage the gums. This is the time that you may complain to the dentist about bleeding when brushing. Gum disease can be sneaky, sometimes causing little or no pain or irritation before permanent damage is done to your teeth. That’s why regular dental visits are a must. With X-rays and a thorough examination, we can spot trouble before you know it’s there. We start with scaling (with special ultrasonic scalers) that will remove the tartar and then polishing that removes stains from coffee, tea, cigarettes or red wine.
In Chronos London Dental Clinic you can be provided with deep scaling techniques for severe cases with pockets, to clean parts of teeth below the gum which cannot be reached by your toothbrush. We may then insert DENTOMYCIN which is an antibiotic chip that kills bacteria that causes gum disease and by that, precipitates the healing process.
Finally we will finish with the polishing of the teeth to remove surface staining using the latest technology of AIR-FLOW (air-polishing) using small pearls of Bicarbonate Soda to shift those stubborn stains leaving you with a sparkling smile.
Bad Breath
Bad breath, or halitosis, can be a major problem, especially when you’re about to snuggle with your sweetie or whisper a joke to your friend. The good news is that bad breath can often be prevented with some simple steps. Bad breath is caused by odour-producing bacteria that grow in the mouth. When you don’t brush and floss regularly, bacteria accumulate on the bits of food left in your mouth and between your teeth. The sulphur compounds released by these bacteria make your breath smell. We use special plastic spoons to gently scrape the back of your tongue. You may also be offered an instrument that measures sulphur compounds in the mouth.
Sensitivity Treatment
More and more often we are visited by patients suffering from sensitive teeth. Sensitivity is characterized by short, sharp pain that is commonly caused by exposed dentine. Other than advising you on the best products to use to keep your teeth healthy and pain free, we can offer you the SENSITROL BUD which is a fast and effective desensitizer that is biologically compatible with soft tissues. It is effective, very easy to use and will not discolour your teeth.
Fillings
To treat a cavity the dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and then “fill” the area on the tooth where the decayed material once lived. Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down from misuse (such as from nail-biting or tooth grinding). Composite, Glass Ionomer and compomer are different types of white filling that we can provide you in our practice. All silver colour fillings (Amalgam) can be replaced by white filling material as well.
Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment)
Root canal treatment or endodontic is used to save the tooth when the dental pulp (blood vessels and nerve in the centre of the tooth) dies and the tooth becomes infected. The cause of infection is usually decay in the tooth, under a filling or in the fracture of a tooth or injury. Without treatment, this can cause a dental abscess resulting in pain, swelling and infection of the jaw bone. At Chronos London Dental Clinic we specialise in root canal treatment using the latest techniques and systems such as PROTAPER.
Crowns & Bridges
Crowns and Bridges are used to restore teeth back to their original function. Crowns, often called caps, are used to completely cover an individual tooth which has been damaged due to decay or fracturing. If a damaged tooth does not have the structure to withhold a filling then a crown will be used to restore the tooth back to its original form. At Chronos London Dental Clinic you are offered a large range of crowns to suit your particular preference this includes simple porcelain crowns to LAVA/PROCERA type.
Bridges are used when a tooth is missing. These can be made of porcelain and or metal and are used to fix a replacement tooth to the natural teeth or crowns.
Dentures
Losing your natural teeth is unpleasant for anyone but here at Chronos London Dental Clinic we use our expertise to restore your smile back to its original with the use or dentures.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and adjacent tissues. It is made of acrylic resin, sometimes in combination with various metals. Complete dentures replace all the teeth, while a partial denture fills in the spaces created by missing teeth and prevents other teeth from changing position. They can be made of Metal or Acrylic . We also offer patients a new generation of dentures which are called VALPLAST flexible partial, allowing the restoration to adapt to the constant movement and flexibility in your mouth. Finally, the colour of the acrylic can be pigmented to match that of different shades of mucosa.
